The City Kiel:
Kiel is the only state capital in Germany located directly on the coast in the far north of the country in Schleswig-Holstein and connects the Baltic Sea with the North Sea via the famous Kiel Canal. With 250,000 inhabitants, it is the northernmost major city in Germany. The university city is famous for the handball record champion THW-Kiel, the largest German shipyard ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, the ferry connections to Scandinavia and the culinary specialty of “Kieler Sprotten”. In 2024, “Holstein Kiel” was successfully promoted to the first football league.
